On December 5th, 2019, XiongBing, professor and doctor’s supervisor of School of Foreign Languages, CentralChina Normal University, was invited to give an academic lecture entitledapplication for scientific research projects -- taking Projects of the National Social Science Fund of China andthe Humanities and Social Science Research of the Ministry of Education asexamples. The lecture was hosted by Cai Wei, director of Teaching andResearch Section of Business English Department.

According to his own experience, takingthe confusion and problems faced by college teachers during the process ofscientific research project declaration into consideration, Professor Xiongexplained and analyzed in detail in different ways such as the applicationtime, evaluation process, topic selection requirements, research andargumentation, declaration writing and so forth, taking projects of NationalSocial Science Fund the Humanities and Social Science Research Projects of theMinistry of Education as examples. Professor Xiong emphasized that the topicselection must heighten the problem awareness, meet the social needs, andreflect the principle of novelty and uniqueness. Based on the successful andfailed projects in recent years, professor Xiong summarized his experience andlessons in writing various parts of the project declaration through carefulanalysis, and generously shared his own experience and skills.

The lecture is one of the themeeducation activities under the spirit of “remain true to ouroriginal aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind”, co-host by BusinessEnglish and Translation Department Party Brunch. It is one of the responsiblemeasures to encourage teachers to constantly improve the level of scientificresearch and to realize the strategy of scientific research invigorating the department underthe background of continuous success to declare projects of National SocialScience Fund and Humanities and Social Science Research of the Ministry ofEducation.

During this two-hour lecture, presentteachers listened carefully and benefited a lot.
